Objectives:

1. Improve school leaders’ buy-in and enthusiasm for the use of Open Educational Resources
2. Improve school leaders’ ability to support their teachers and students use of Open Educational Resources in the classroom
3. Enhance school leaders’ capacity to manage processes for the creation, remixing and sharing of Open Educational Resources

This module explores the use of open source software to create industry standard digital graphics products. These tools include, but are not limited to, Kitra, Inkscape, Gimp, and presentation tools.  Learners are free to explore other tools that can support graphic design to industry standards. 

It also focuses on tools for developing animated sequences for instruction.  These include open source and freemium software that can be used online or as third-party tools.  Learners will also be required to manage an animated production, from initial stages to the conclusion, making use of 2D animation production methods and procedures.  Learners will demonstrate effective use of production software and apply relevant editing techniques to develop and publish their product in an appropriate format for distribution.

Assessment plays a major role in student learning. There are many new approaches to assessment with an emphasis on the process of learning along with the product of learning. Performance based authentic assessment is emphasized world over. Gradually, we are moving towards an emphasis on continuous and comprehensive evaluation of students’ learning. Development in information and communication technology has thrown open numerous possibilities for assessing student learning and providing feedback.  This module explores the basics of assessment practices and explores how various technology tools can be integrated effectively for assessing student learning. 

In this module you will learn what it means to teach and learn in the 21st century. You will explore the challenges faced as a 21st century educator and will develop a vision for teaching and learning in the 21st century. You will also conduct a thorough analysis of the 21st century classroom and create activities that can be utilized in this setting. Ultimately, the goal of this module is to develop your capacity to teach in a virtual learning environment.

This course will focus on learners’ digital literacy, and the significance and implications of such knowledge and skills to success in the creative sectors.
